TCS Press is the independent publishing arm of The Chaos Section, launched in the summer of 2025 and based in Austin, Texas. We publish books, anthologies, essays, and anything else we think is worth sharing. We work on our own schedule, without chasing trends, algorithms, or asking for permission.
The Chaos Section began in 2012 as a loose-knit group of writers and friends throwing essays, opinions, and personal stories into the void from every corner of the country. What started as a place for political takes and offbeat reflections grew into a collaborative project with contributors from New York, Utah, South Carolina, Texas, California, Kentucky, and beyond. Each writer brings a different voice, whether sharp commentary, personal stories, or a rant about whatever haunts the American psyche that week.
We never set out to be a traditional blog. We don’t publish on a schedule, and we don’t pretend to be neutral. We write when we have something worth saying, whether it’s a political broadside, a strange personal story, or something in between. Over the years, we’ve published independents, democrats, republicans, libertarians, socialists, anarchists, and people who don’t care much for politics at all. What holds it together is a love of writing, a willingness to speak honestly, and a shared belief in free speech, questioning power, resisting authoritarianism, and giving voices a place to be heard.
The Chaos Section Poetry Project grew out of that same spirit. It’s a space for protest poetry, resistance writing, and work that pushes back against silence. Our first release, Record of Dissent: Poems of Protest in an Authoritarian Age, brought together 44 poems by 22 authors in response to the rise of authoritarianism during America’s Trump era. You can read the full collection online for free, download the PDF, or order a print copy.

We’re a small, DIY indie press with a questionable work ethic and an unpredictable schedule. We’re not here to be the next big thing. We just want to share voices worth hearing, whenever we get around to it. Thanks for being part of the chaos.
